Position of Mercury in the 8th House.

It is a difficult position for Mercury to be in the 8th house, irrespective of the Rasi in the 8th house. Firstly, the individual has dull intelligence, even if it is sharp, the individual avoids its full application, avoids written work and homework, depend on work and guidance of, fellow students, if need be, by exhibiting a tendency of a snob or a bully. 

Specialty of Mercury in the Occupation.

This specialty applies also to teachers, tutors, journalists, petition writers, written work on the desk of advocates, solicitors, accountants, astrologer, story and dialogue writers in the film line. The written work of these persons becomes more or less stereo-typed, copy or a repetition of past work of others or themselves, and they do not hesitate to indulge in piracy, even openly. 

If they are typists, stenographers, clerks and juniors assigned to drafting or copying, they do not hesitate to keep work pending and going in arrears unless someone is rigidly supervising their work. If these people have a speaking job like that of teachers, professors, lawyers, advocates, taxation representatives, they generally try to be brief in their submissions and arguments, teachings and lectures, even if some salient and important points get left out. 

Mercury is a Lord of 1st House.

These individuals do not hesitate in suppressing a matter by destroying material written evidence, replacing genuine papers, documents by false or forged or fictitious ones, at the same time denying their earlier written or oral statements or submissions or evidence. 

If Mercury is lord of the 1st, 10th or 11th house, they indulge in wrong actions the individual. Mercury in 8th house, specially if it is lord of the 2nd house, is capable of giving the individual stammering, faulty style of speaking, stuttering, mumbling, etc., and sometimes even partial or complete dumbness. 

Some people get this defect in speech from birth, while some others develop it in early childhood; still others get it as a result of nervousness and hesitation in putting forth one's lesson in school. Then it prevails in debates in college or university, and then in full adulthood, a result of copying someone else, at least because of inferiority complex.

Troubles in Mercury in the 8th House.

 Using a word or phrase repeatedly, without reference or relevance in talks is also a result of Mercury in the 8th house. The only other trouble Mercury in 8th house can give is biting (physical injury) by a rabid dog, fox, jackal, camel etc.

 Another point: while driving any vehicle (auto or non-auto) these individuals make a mistake in judging the movements of other vehicles or pedestrians on the road, and might cause an accident if the person walking or the driver opposite, or behind is not rather watchful.
